Before Liftoff is a pop-up site-specific installation staged in front of the USC AeroDesign Building. Inspired by the white columns at the entrance, which visually resemble a cluster of rockets waiting on a launch pad, the project reimagines an ordinary campus facade as a moment of suspended departure.
Through projected light, atmospheric sound, and spatial framing, Before Liftoff transforms the familiar campus environment into a cinematic pre-launch sequence. Rather than showing the rocket in flight, the project focuses on the seconds before departure — the quiet tension, the physical stillness, and the emotional weight of leaving Earth behind.

Aftercare is a cinematic objects installation presented at the USC SCA Gallery. Using balloons as fragile substitutes for human faces, the project explores the tension between beauty, artificial perfection, and bodily vulnerability.
Each balloon carries a projected facial expression, transforming a temporary inflatable object into a distorted portrait. Bandages are placed on the balloons to evoke the visual language of cosmetic surgery, recovery, and excessive modification. The faces appear polished, exaggerated, and emotionally unstable, suggesting a body caught between self-construction and self-erasure.
The installation culminates in a live performance in which the balloons are punctured. This final act turns the face into something temporary and breakable. What appears smooth, controlled, and perfected is revealed to be unstable — a surface held together by pressure, projection, and illusion.
Rather than criticizing cosmetic surgery itself, Aftercare reflects on the fragile systems of beauty, performance, and self-image that shape how a face is constructed, displayed, and destroyed.

Cinematic Objects Installation
The Lab is an immersive installation presented at Grand LA on April 23 and April 30, 2026. The project constructs a closed, lab-like environment where the audience is positioned as the subject of observation rather than the observer.
Projected across the walls, blurred human silhouettes stand behind a translucent glass-like surface, facing inward toward the audience. Their bodies remain indistinct, but their collective presence creates a strong sense of surveillance, containment, and psychological pressure. The installation transforms the gallery space into an experimental chamber — a place where the viewer becomes the specimen.
Through projection, darkness, spatial enclosure, and distorted human shadows, The Lab explores the discomfort of being watched, studied, and silently judged. The audience is not simply inside a room; they are placed inside a system of observation. The work asks what happens when looking becomes control, and when the human body becomes something to be examined.
